Karmine Corp have secured the second EMEA slot at the Esports World Cup, beating Movistar KOI 3-1 in the lower bracket final on Sunday.
After dropping a difficult opening game β and coming off a tough series the day before β KC found their footing across the next three maps to close out the BO5 (best-of-five). Kim "Canna" Chang-dong led the response in particular, putting in standout performances on Yone and Gnar despite struggling in recent matches. The result also marks KC's fourth straight victory over MKOI, counting their LEC Versus meeting in Badalona.
Attention now turns to the race for MSI. The LEC playoffs begin next Saturday with KC vs G2 Esports, followed by MKOI vs Team Vitality on Sunday. The two MSI tickets are expected to once again come down to that trio, unless back up their strong regular season and play spoiler. GX and NAVI, meanwhile, look a clear step below the top four.
